This weekend brought me to Carmel. Carmel is known for its quaint shops and art community, but Carmel was orignally started as a mission by Father Junipero Serra, who blazed a trail of missions from Mexico to San Francsico.

I see in your Carmel you went by/to the Village Corner. Excellent food they have. I've only been there once, but I'd highly recommend it.
